The Fredericksburg Masters Swimming team is affiliated with U.S. Masters, Inc. to support adult competitive swimming.  HOT is an official site for "SwimAmerica" learn-to-swim program which  is offered each summer.

To accommodate the wide range of swimming skills, the team is divided into four levels of skill and experience:

1. The pre-competitive “Swim America Learn-To-Swim” group is for the beginning swimmer who is comfortable in the water, but does not know how to swim. The group is structured for novices who would like to learn Olympic competitive strokes in a “fun” environment. No previous experience necessary
(Ages 5 – 10). This is an entry level program and is only run in the summer for 16 lessons.
Two summer sessions:
June 9- July 3 (currently full) and July 7-31 (openings available)(Lady Bird Johnson Park pool-see Contact Us page for directions)

2. The Bronze Team is designed for the beginning competitive swimmer who can swim the length of the pool on their stomach and back. Most of the children in our Bronze program are first or second season swimmers. Bronze team members practice with an emphasis on learning the fundamentals of competitive swimming in a team environment. The goal of this group is to prepare the young swimmer for his/her first few competitions with children of the same age and ability level. Minimum practice requirements are two times per week during the school year and three times per week in the summer unless the coach has been informed of special conflicts in your schedule.

3. The Silver Team is comprised of swimmers who:
* Are ready for regularly scheduled USAS competitions.
* Can do a racing dive from the start platforms.
* Can swim the four Olympic strokes legally at a USAS sanctioned meet.
* Have the maturity and endurance necessary to participate in a minimum of three practices per week.

4. The Gold Team is comprised of swimmers who:
* Have competed in a 200 or 400 I.M. (depending on age), in legal technique, or have competed in all four strokes (legally) in one meet.
* Have demonstrated the mastery of all strokes at USAS competition and complete endurance type training of up to 3100 yards in a one & one half hour practice segment.
* Have the necessary skill and endurance to participate in highly organized training sessions designed for competition. Practice requirements are a minimum of four times per week.

The Masters Team includes all adult swimmers, some of which have no desire to compete at sanctioned meets, but enjoy the social aspect of swimming with a dedicated group of like-minded adults.
Masters swimming includes:
* Adult “re-learn” to swim.
* Triathlon Team training.
* Adventure racers.
* US Masters competitors.
* Recreational swimmers.
The program fluctuates from 2 one hour sessions per week in the winter and a minimum of twice a week during the summer. Check the swim calendar for days/times.
